I have
been having a tough time deciding what I do on my birthday this year. I will
be turning thirty and somehow I get the feeling that I should stop throwing
wild birthday parties for my birthday and settle down for a more sober form
of celebration. I know my friends will take none of it. We all look forward
to my birthday party as a re-enforcement of the fact that we are young
enough to go out and boogey like the 16 year olds!
A few
years ago I got curios as to who I share my birthday with and decided
to do a search online. It turned out that quite a few famous people have the
same birth date as me. This gave rise to a wild idea. Each year my husband
and I started celebrating my birthday on a theme which has something to do
with the other famous person whose birthday happened to be the same as mine.
Since
my husband’s birthday is just a couple of weeks before my birthday, we tend
to have joint parties. Since he does not care much about birthdays, it is
usually my birthday which sees us getting all our family and friends
together for a good time. I do tend to get very nostalgic when I go through
some of my first birthday parties which were painstakingly organized by my
mother.
Most
of my birthday parties have been easy going and very relaxed. I would
recommend people of all ages to celebrate their birthdays as it tends to
help them enjoy life more (rather than remind them of their age as some
people tend to believe). |
