Can you remember
what you gave your husband last year as a birthday gift or the year
before? If not, then it is probably not worth remembering. A
birthday gift for near and dear ones should be something which is
heartfelt and memorable. This does not mean that you the birthday
gift should be exorbitant or over the top.
One of my most
cherished possessions is a wallet given by my husband as a birthday
gift. Similarly some of the items adorning my work place desk are
items which have been a birthday gift from a close friend or family.
These gifts bring back fond memories of a warm celebration or the
face of the person who gifted it to me. A birthday gift has a longer
implication in a person’s life than just being something given to
you on your special day.
Sometimes we do
give a birthday gift out of compulsion to family members of
colleagues since it is the right thing to do. However, if you can
buy a birthday gift with some good thoughts behind it, then there is
a good chance of improvement in relationship with this additional
effort.
