Buying
a birthday card today sounds like an old-fashioned notion. Over the years, I
have seen the number of birthday cards exchanged fall dramatically. Have
people stopped bothering about buying a birthday card to give to their
friends or family? Has the age old tradition of sending a birthday card in
the post become failed the test of time? The answer is no. The reason for
this is different.
A
birthday card means a lot to the recipient. First, it means that you
remembered his or her birthday. Second, it means that you care enough to
take the trouble to go to a shop and pick up a birthday card. Last but not
the least; it brightens up the birthday girl or boy’s day. With so many
benefits of a birthday card, it seems like a shame to replace it with an
e-card which may have the sentiment but not the same impact as a birthday
card.
Though
e-cards have taken over the birthday card market share to a large extent,
you can still buy good a good birthday card at most of the stores today. You
can choose from humorous cards which usually have a tongue-in-cheek approach
or a sentimental birthday card which carry meaningful poems.
A
birthday card can be given with a gift, flowers or just as it is as it
conveys the birthday wishes. It is recommended that you keep a stock of
birthday cards handy so that you don’t need to run to the store each time a
birthday comes along. Giving a colleague a birthday card is a great way to
foster good working relationships as well. |
